KEEPING UP WITH MR. JONES - a sweet, contemporary romance.

Super mom, Felicity Quinn, has built a dream life in a gated community, with manicured lawns, all the amenities, soaring home values... skyrocketing HOA fees and draconian restrictions.

Unfortunately, everything she thought she wanted is unraveling at the seams. Her oldest child is a pot head, her teenage daughter dresses like a hooker and her youngest has a penchant for killing small animals. When her husband calls home to announce that he is leaving her for his office assistant, Felicity thinks things can not get much worse...

...Until she bumps into her eccentric neighbor, Mr. Jones... with her car. Out of a sense of responsibility, Felicity takes it upon herself to care for Mr. Jones during his recovery. But what woman half his age could expect to keep up with Mr. Jones?

I really enjoyed this book. This unlikely couple caught my attention and the author made it seem they were totally mismatched. But the hero was truly a hero to the heroine and her children -- unlike the former husband and father. The author showed what real love is -- not just emotion but deep caring and putting that love into action. It was entertaining and a fun read.

This was my first Sofie Couch book, but it definitely won't be my last. Infused with hope and finding the good during a horrible situation, it showed me the power of second chances. I can't wait to read what comes next from Ms. Couch!

5.0 out of 5 stars Delivers on its promise February 16, 2013

This story is a romance with a twist. The heroine is in her mid forties and the love interest older by quite a bit. She has three kids, he lost his only child and wife in circumstances that drove him into the life of a hermit. Her jerk of a husband is not only an adulterer, but a thief as well. When her husband abandons her, Felicity Quinn must gather up the reins of her errant children, find a place to move, and not lean too hard on her rescuer.

Good luck with that last bit. Mr. Jones finds himself falling for the plucky woman and her children. His journey from distrust of his neighbors to adoration of the woman doing her best to survive the wreckage her husband left behind is the extra icing on this romantic cake. The humor and sweetness of this romance is hard to find today. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

MOONSHINE: The Prequel

Rivanna Rivers wants to find the father who abandoned her and her mother, leaving her saddled with the same name as a local tributary.
Matt Breeden wants to avoid going to jail, but that's difficult to do when your politically avaricious family invites scandal, your brother dies in the arms of a minor, and you support them all through the production of moonshine.
Annabelle Freeman just wants to make it through "back-to-school" night without anyone discovering that she has buried her grandfather in the garden.
What do these people have in common? Family, moonshine, and murder.

What people are saying:

 5 STARS!! Beate Boeker (Germany)
I very much enjoyed this story. With different strands of action and perspectives, this story felt like a tightly woven carpet, new colors and nuances being added by the minute. I felt closely connected to both main heroines and read this book without stopping once. A great story!

4 STARS!! Naomi Hop
If this is only the prequel, I can't wait to read the first book!! This was such a fascinating read. It had me drawn in from the very start.
The story takes place in Gloucester, Virginia, where politics are strong, kids are at school and there are people who still make a living from the production of Moonshine.
Two best friends have their lives altered in unrelated circumstances. From here the story merges in with other residents and we learn their backgrounds and how they connect to the other characters in the town that are featured in the book as well.
Sofie has done a superb job writing this prequel. I enjoyed every minute while reading it; I was always looking forward to what was going to happen next. It has a great plot and I love the mix of characters that are in it! And also some of them appear to have a hint of some sort of supernatural abilities (think the TV show Ordinary Family)...... I thought that this story has been set up for what's to come in the future and has shaped the way characters will be in the rest of the series.
And to throw in a quote from a Bangles song!! Fantastic!! Well done Sofie!!

4 STARS!! E. A. Lewis "Mrs Mommy Booknerd"
Nothing pleases me more than finding new authors and books that are worth my time to read. MOONSHINE by Sofie Couch is one of those books that is worth your time. With a new and fascinating take on the paranormal Couch tells an interesting story, with characters whose paths cross in numerous ways which weaves a story that is both original and fun! I recommend this novel (4 stars).

ANGELS UNAWARES: Fall for Grace
Grace Breeden sees dead people. But why then can't she see her late mother? "Blue guys", as Grace refers to them, roam the earth searching for their opportunity to transcend, but one particularly persistent blue guy is shadowing Grace, involving her in near misses that lead her to surmise that there's something a bit "grim" about this specter. Keeping her friends close and the angel of death closer, she tries to save her living family from the reaper, but someone, or some thing, is threatened by her gifts... and wants her dead.

Hmmm. I wonder what this inconspicuous picture in the corner could be.
